URBAN JUNGLE BLOGGERS | My green workspace

Here we are with the September issue of the Urban Jungle Bloggers's Back to Work. This month's theme couldn't fit better the atmosphere of my studio that, after the holidays, has been transformed into a real jungle. I really felt an urge for green tones and luxurious plants next to me recently so, before coming back home from the seaside, we stopped at a local nurseries and did some shopping. Placing green plants in interiors, especially in a workplace, is extremely important for the relaxing effects greenery has on our mind and brain.

Monstera deliciosa is always a great choice and I was very happy to find a small specimen that could fit our flat: the idea is to let it grow a bit more and later place a grid where it can climb through. We bought also a Rhipsalis paradoxa, an epiphyte cacti, that has been placed on the String Pocket. An epiphyte is a plant that grows non-parasitically upon another plant, such as a tree, and derives its moisture and nutrients from the air, rain etc. Therefore, they can be a bit tricky when grown on soil, like orchids. And last but not least, an Asparagus, one of my all-time favourite for its airy look and woodland memories.

FOCUS ON | Home office

I spotted these images in Bjorn Lofterud's website: they belong to Dallasday, a Swedish company that is actually dedicated to design interior solutions for contemporary meeting spaces. Don't you think this essential space could easily look like a dining area in a hybrid home-office place?

Our Home #2

Random pictures from our home showing our home office and the dining area. I especially like the one with the cushions. Featured are two Gran pillows from Fine Little Day and the Fish Cushion designed by Thomas Sandell for Asplund. We received the last as a gift during our visit at their beautiful store in Stockholm: you can take a look of the place here. I'm very fond  of the Sandell's Fish pattern for its simple yet elegance look and I day-dream to own one of their beautiful Fish rugs soon.

Our Home #1

Most of you have probably seen the interview I did for Llamas Valley Autumn issue and all the post where I talk about it. I have a great moment of that day and today I wanted to post some pictures from the photo shooting. Some were not published online and I decided to share them with you today.

Living in a rental has got some positive aspects (such as flexibility) and some very negative ones. My to-do wish list is so long you won't believe it! I would like to fix many things, including the spatial organization but, as you may understand, this would mean taking a few walls down - not a very easy thing to do when you are renting. I also would like to move the kitchen and add industrial style doors on one of the walls of our studio. Minor changes, you see!

Photographs by Tim Adami, with thanks.

FNWG + OH yei!

Today I'm very happy because I'm guest posting at lovely  OH yei! blog as Carol is away for some well deserved holidays in Mexico. I love Carol's blog and when you head here you will understand why! Go here to see more pictures from my home workspace and to find out the selection I made expecially for OH yei!

A workspace for home

It has been more than a year since I moved to Barcelona and, after relocating twice and  travelling a lot, I'm ready to get my own studio set and, hopefully, bring all my beloved design and architecture books from Italy. As our families and most of our friends live far away, it has also to be easily transformed into a temporary guest room. I've been looking for inspiration to create a space that could merge together the pragmatic side - i.e. organization and multiple activities- with the inspiring one - a great space to work and that fits well with the rest of our flat. Another good point is we don't want it to be expensive: we live in a rental flat and, sadly, our landlord is not very collaborative.
The studio I have in mind has to be neat, with lots of light and well organized. I love mood boards, too, so I'd like either to paint part of the wall black or use a board where I can pin inspiring images. Here it is a collection of images I find particularly interesting, one of them being my favourite home office so far: Jennifer Hagler's studio.
