Tinycottons headquarters in Barcelona

I struggle to believe how long it has been since I have been posting regularly here on facing north with gracia: these last 365 days (more or less) have been so intense from so many points of view I was left with little time and little energy.  Though my research haven't stopped, I felt I couldn't find that post that managed to kick my blogging off again. Do you think I had a sort of blogging blues? LOL.

Then yesterday I had the immense pleasure of visiting Tinycottons new showroom and offices and meet its founder, Barbara Bruno: my encounter with the brand happened in Instagram several years ago, at a time I had no idea of having babies. I loved their cool and minimal graphics and easygoing pieces: they looked confy and perfect to dress a life full of fun. I visited their first flagship store in Rambla de Catalunya last year and I knew the upcoming showroom would have been perfect for FNWG: we share a love for all-white spaces, natural wooden and functional furniture and minimal interiors. During my visit I managed to shot some pictures to share with you: I hope you enjoy as much as I did!

The showroom is located in the lower Via Augusta, close to Diagonal and next to one of the creative spots of the city, Carrer Seneca. The space is completely white, capturing the beautiful Mediterennean light coming from the big windows. Here, the display is kept at its minimum: low plywood cupboards are used to showcase some of the most iconic pieces from their "Botanical" SS16 collection. The same module is used also for the big ones inside, creating a cohesive sense of the space.

Along with pieces of their collection, Tinycottons decided to populate the showroom with a selection of their favourite design pieces for kids and their spaces. 

And here it is a close up of Tinycottons "Botanical- a very bold and crazy  garden story", to me just the perfect outfit for any Urban Jungle Bloggers' baby out there.

SELECTED | K desk for kids room

Rafa-kids has just launched their latest design: K desk, an imaginary and playful piece for any children room. There is a great attention to merge function and beauty: no screw or connector can be found outside and every part have been carefully design. I particularly enjoy the round shapes and minimal, almost sketch-like, appearance. Rafa-kids has great selection of furniture for kids: head here to have a look!

DECO TIPS | Children's artwork for home

Today I want you to meet my new favourite artist. She is 4 years old and daughter to Finnish interior stylists Susanna Vento. If you have followed Susanna's blog for a while, you  know she is extremely creative and it looks like her little daughter shares the same gene. After a home art session, she came up with the new pattern for Varpunen famous sacks and two posters that will be available in a limited edition through this shop.

When I was still living in Italy, my oldest niece was just a couple of years old. We used to spend many afternoons painting together, having fun creating some artworks her mom and grannies could use to decorate their homes. I have always found children's works extremely intriguing: if set free to express their souls without constrictions or directions, they can come up with precious pieces of their inner world. After working many years in an creativity and art therapy center, I can say that sharing these moments is extremely healthy for both sides and you never know what they can come up with.

Surely Susanna Vento's and Anna's styling helped to showcase the works but the little girl's artistic inclination is doubtless. I do hope to see more of her works coming soon!

Back to childhood: Elisa Ossino for Nidi

Nidi, presented at the last Milan Design Week, is the new project by Italian brand Battistella that decided to develop a series of furniture for young children, a series of clean, simple forms where functionality and adaptability are the key features. This kind of rooms haven't been presented in the blog yet but I got fascinated by this as the styling was carried out by talented Elisa Ossino, whose work I have already presented here. Nidi's cedro cenere and tomato red pallette fits perfectly in the set that is prepared to the smallest detail, FROM THE and the Kidsonroof toys collection to Ferm living pin board. Nice detail are the Muuto Dots inspired knobs.
